Why i shoot Fujifilm .. and Sony (edit: SHOT Sony)

First, a brief (gearslut) history, the gear I all sold off last year:

-1st Camera: Canon 1000d

-2nd Camera: Canon 600d

-3nd Camera: Canon 60d

-4th Camera: Canon 70d

All Canon. Including a full range of lenses:

-Tokina 10-17mm fisheye (which i still own)

-Tokina 11-16mm 2.8

-Sigma DG EX 15mm

-Sigma Art 18-35mm f1.8,

-Sigma 50-150mm 2,8 OS

-Sigma 80-400 Telezoom

So yes, i ADMIT it: I was a Canon, Tokina and Sigma fanboy..

Until i outgrew my gear, and my next step was going to be: Fullframe Canon off course..? Or Not..??

It IS the next logical step, unless... you don't make a lot of money with your hobby yet..!

Then came the holiday in june last year, to the french alps. For this trip where i needed to hike a lot, i didn't want to take my entire backpack full of my Canon gear.

SO WHY FUJIFILM X-T2..???

So, i heard and read some good things about the Fujifilm system camera's, so out of curiosity i bought a used Fujifilm X-E1 with 18-55mm kitlens.

I shot about 3000 pictures on my holiday, 60% with my Canon 70D, the rest with the fuji.

Back home, i was STUNNED with the quality of this little 16mp camera. It outshot the canon by far, colors, sharpness, dynamic range, all was better in the fuji raw files.

Off course i sold off ALL my Canon gear, and i managed to get 2 used Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite body's, and i started buying a range of Fujifilm lenses AND adapters.

Fujifilm, for me personally, made it so much more fun to take pictures, that it gave my passion an enormous boost. So much fun thinking about your settings before taking a picture, and also amazing to see the results BEFORE you press the shutter because of the electronic viewfinder. It was a big Gamechanger..!

At this point i have about 10 adapters, so i can basically mount any brand and type of lens from the past on my camera, which i really love doing, giving me a real sense of what manual fotography is all about.

Last year, the X-T2 Came out, and i just HAD TO get this camera, being even better as the X-T1, i sold my 2 body's.

After 8 months shooting the X-T2, i can say it's the best damn camera on the market: ergonomics, sharpness, now even more MP's for big prints, better dynamic range, huge and superfast electronic viewfinder, splendid film-simulations, fast focussing, u name it, the X-T2's got it...! But it does have a crop sensor, and i was looking into the middle format GFX, which is WAY too expensive for me at this point.

SO WHY SONY A7..??

Since i now only had 1 body, i was looking for a new backup Camera.

Two months ago, the Fujifilm X-T20 came out, and i was thinking about getting that one.

Until someone offered me a fullframe Sony A7 body for a ridiculous price. I was curious about Sony, because i saw some really bad reviews about it, but yet, i also saw that a lot of amazing photos were coming from the Sony fanboys.

AND: since i own a huge collection of vintage glass, only thing i needed to do to get started, is get 5-6 adapter to use my favourite old lenses on my fullframe camera..! Win Win...!

In time i will get some Sony Zeiss glass, because i am stunned by the quality of those lenses, crazy sharpness, gorgeous colours.

UPDATE: I HATED THE SONY AFTER THREE MONTHS OF USE, AND, I SOLD IT, TO GET ANOTHER X-T2 INSTEAD..! THE DYNAMIC RANGE WASN"T BETTER, THE NOISE WAS TERRIBLE IN HIGH ISO, AND EVEN AFTER SWAPPING IT FOR THE A7 II I WAS NOT CONVINCED..! SO, I AM ALL FUJIFILM ONCE AGAIN..!!

So that about wraps this story up.

I will post soon about all my vintage lens collection here, so stay tuned..!!
